How to Respond to Late Night Text Messages
It's late at night, or maybe it's the wee hours of the morning, and you get a text from a guy. Can you say, "BOOTY CALL"?
Dictionary.com defines a booty call as "a phone call, text message, email, etc., whose purpose is to arrange a meeting to have casual sex". If you are looking for a relationship instead of casual sex, there are a few different ways that you can respond. Let's say that you really like this guy but you want to get to know him on an emotional level before taking the next step. Steer clear of any short, negative answers that he can interpret as a rejection. If you want to text him back right away, you can tell him that you are tired and you are going to sleep but you would love to talk tomorrow to set up a date. If you want to wait until the morning to text him back, let him know that you are sorry that you missed his text and make plans to get together. Keep things positive and let him know that you are interested in getting closer. Set your sexual boundaries and let him know what you are looking for. If he is interested in more than just a sexual relationship, he will be more than happy to spend time with you and keep things moving according to these boundaries.
If he is only looking for a casual hookup and you aren't interested in that, don't feel pressured to do anything that you don't want to do. Different people want different things. Maybe he's in a stage of his life where he doesn't want any kind of commitment. Maybe, it's just the type of person that he is. Either way, if you aren't into it, don't do it. Keep looking for the right guy who is looking for a meaningful relationship.
